The research of structure optimization design has become a hot pot in both industry and academe,of which the emphasis is how to increase the method’s efficiency and precision. The artificial beecolony (ABC) algorithm, a relatively recent bio-inspired approach mimicking the behavior of real beecolony, was applied to optimization problems of mechanical structural. The metamodel of objectiveand constrains were gotten through combination of design of experiment and sequential responsesurface method. Then, the optimum design was obtained by the modified artificial bee colonyalgorithm. It could reduce the computing cost by the metamodeling techniques. A typical example wasselected to proof this method. The comparison result between the simulated and experimental valuesshows that this method has enough precision and satisfies the practical engineering demands.Robust optimization design could reduce the fluctuation of product quality and improve therobustness of design availably. On the basis of the interval uncertain factor’s characteristic, a robustoptimization design method combined with metamodeling techniques, interval analysis, and modifiedartificial bee colony algorithm was proposed. A typical example was to prove that, although thesacrifice of quality performance, the design of robust optimization is more robust and feasible thanstructure optimization design. The error between the simulated and experimental values was permittedwithin acceptable tolerance.To aim at improve the efficiency of structure optimization design and robust optimization design,optimized design technology based on the parameterized process of finite element analysis wasestablished. The system founded on Open CASCADE platform could implement parameterizedgeometric modeling, parameterized mesh generation, and parameterized attribute data. Many times ofcomputing were complete by one CAE modeling, and the sample data from the FEA could make upthe metamodel which is applied to structure optimization design and robust optimization designthrough different mathematicization. After a typical example, the system was performed smoothly.Obviously, this would be very helpful for optimization design of practical project.
