As the human activities get more open, the worldwide communications increasegradually. For convenience of communication, the pattern of human construction isundergoing profound changes. In every Olympics and Expo, large scale infrastructurewill be built by the host country to meet the communication requirements of peoplefrom all over the world. For example, in Shanghai world Expo,the Expo Participantsreached240and the area of exhibition reached5.28kilometers, besides each venuesrequired a large display space. So large span, light-weight and richly varied shape arethe common features of these buildings. For these requirements, the spatial reticulatedshells used to be the first choice among many different structural concepts.For example, the Japan pavilion sited at the Shanghai World Expo2010, whichcovered an area of about6000square meters, could accommodate1800people visitingat the same time. The main exhibition halls were2stores local3above the ground, andthe whole building was covered by the dome. The external dome adopted the system ofsteel reticulated shell structure, but inside the system of braced steel frame. Besides,many stadiums also adopt the spatial reticulated shells.Qingdao Sports Center Swimming and Diving Hall is grid structure for thecomplex multi-surface shaped structure, whose construction is difficult, difficult tomeasure and so on. Based on these, we did a targeted research on the design andconstruction of the grid structure by the method of making investigation and monitoringon site, combining with the practical situation:(1) For construction management, we focused mainly on new measures, newtechnology, and new methods.(2) For construction technology, mainly about the analysis on construction scheme,uninstall scheme and monitoring program.(3) For health monitoring, we made a synthesis evaluation by taking a long timemonitoring on Qingdao Sports Center Swimming and Diving Hall for stress anddeformation, including deformation at bearings, vertical deformation at gird and somestress in the bars.(4)For reliability analysis, we made the reliability analysis by analyzing theinfluences come from many different factors, including the bar size, quality bias, loaddeviation, construction deviation and so on. The discussion and analysis on many new technologies and new methods not onlycan instruct the design of similar stadiums but also be valuable to construction.
