In recent years, China’s booming economy has brought rapid progress ofpetrochemical enterprises. Refineries have been expanding the size and the scale ofstructures is increasing. The type, quantity and height of tall support steel structureincrease, while functional requirements are more complex.Based on a petrochemical plant engineering practice, this thesis described thedevelopment status of the flare derrick, analyzed and solved problems in thepetrochemical plant multi-tube flare derrick design and construction. The main contents of this thesis are:(1) Several problems on the structural design of the multi-tube flare derrick ofpetrochemical plant are analyzed, including the choice of structural styles of multi-tubefixed flare derrick and self-lowering flare derrick due to different functions, comparisonof the wind load calculation methods, and evaluation of the characteristics of the twodifferent structural styles.(2) As flange connection with high-strength bolts is commonly used in the joints ofsteel tube flare derrick, the design of flange connection and high-strength bolts isintroduced in terms of the actual project. Meanwhile, the design of large-diameter steeltube column foot is also discussed, together with some construction features.(3) Several anticorrosive methods commonly used in the fastener of the flare derrickis also discussed, and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods are compared.(4) Several lifting methods and lifting process are illustrated, the characteristic ofeach method is analyzed, and two lifting method of the flare are also narrated. (5) Suggestions are put forward based on the study of the flare derrick ofpetrochemical plant, which may be referred in routine design.
