Considering the data security, the storage devices are widely used in someimportant institutions that have large data flows, such as government departments,banks and so on. One of the important development directions of future data field is toensure data security through the safe and trouble-free operation of storage devices.Lithium battery (LB) becomes the ideal backup power unit in the storage devices for itsadvantages, such as energy density, high voltage platform and stable operation.However, a key problem in the design of the storage devices is that whether LB canprovide sufficient backup power to ensure the data written to the hard disk system whenunexpected events occur. Therefore, the inevitable issue how to improve the safety andservice life of the LB must be solved while the management and supervision system ofthe LB are designed.Aiming at the management and monitoring problems of the LB backup powermodules in the storage devices, this paper uses18650LB of the storage devices asresearch background and deeply studies and analyzes the management and monitoringsystem of the LB at home and abroad. From the research, a question shows up that thereal-time, accurate data of the LB SOC can not be monitored through the LBmanagement and supervision system, and this paper further proposes the relativesolutions.First of all, this paper, based on the basic working principle and characteristics ofLB, analyzes five defects about the function and safety of LB and puts forward fourpotential safety hazards during the use of LB.Secondly, in order to solve the problem how LB provides a safer and moreeffective backup power to the storage devices, it is essential to analyze the usage andworking environment of LB in the storage devices and focus on the electricity andremaining capacity of LB. From all these analysis, the paper puts forward the LB SOCreal-time monitoring method according to the requirements of the storage devices.Finally, this paper expounds the above real-time monitoring of LB that is used inthe implementation plan of management and monitoring system of LB in the storagedevices from both hardware and software. Among all these, this paper introduces theoperation of the management and monitoring supervision system of LB in details, andfurther proposes the decision on charge and discharge and the system alarm strategy. A company’s working practice has proven that this method can correct someproblems existing in the devices of LB and greatly improve the accuracy of the LB SOCmonitoring, which ensures that the equipment can run more safely and more stably andreduce the cost of system maintenance.
