China is one of the countries which has high frequency earthquakes with the mostserious disaster in the world. In recent years, constant earthquakes have resulted invarying degrees of earthquake damage to existing housing constructions in our country, especially the masonry structures, which have poor seismic capacity. With thedevelopment of performance-based seismic design theory, in this paper a seismic effectanalysis based on the performance of existing masonry structure is proposed, the mainanalysis are as follows:Nowadays, the retrofitting of masonry structures become very common, while theresearch on the seismic performance of reinforced masonry structures is still insufficient,so this paper choose a typical reinforced method by steel mesh and cement mortar toevaluate the seismic performance of reinforced masonry structures.Firstly, contract analysis the nonlinear analysis models of masonry structure, andpropose the equivalent frame model for this article; Secondly, take a three-layermasonry structure in the Tianxing Instrument Factory of three-line construction sites forexample, by simplified the actual masonry structures to the equivalent frame models, establish the related SAP2000analysis models before and after reinforced by steel mesh; Then, according to the two models, proceed Incremental Dynamic Analysis, and use theIDA results for the seismic vulnerability analysis below; Finally, use the collapsemargin ratio (CMR) to make a more intuitive evaluate on the seismic performance ofthe masonry structure before and after reinforcement. It has shown that: the equivalent frame method used in this paper can be wellapplied to the non-linear analysis of masonry structures, and facilitate the calculation ofa variety of software; After reinforcement by steel mesh, the seismic capacity ofmasonry structures has been significantly improved, The introduction of collapsemargin ratio (CMR) can provide an accurate description of reinforced masonry structurewhich is able to meet the needs of seismic ability under the fortification intensity. At present, China’s construction industry has entered a development period of bothnew and repair and renovation structures, especially a group of masonry structures inelderly service stage with old cultural and historical value but cannot meet currentseismic standards, which are in need of proper retrofitting in urgent. The assessment onseismic effect of existing masonry structure before and after reinforcement can not only regard as a theoretical basis for future improvement of seismic performance andimprovement methods of construction, but also provide valuable references for thescientific analysis of the building structure; while the seismic analysis of the physicalproject in the paper has a certain practical significance reinforcement design for similarprojects in the future undoubtedly.
