As energy saving and environmental protection have been widely accepted, thedevelopment and researches of new energy vehicles in main vehicle manufacturers andresearch institutions are becoming more and more extensive and deep. As representative ofenergy conservation and environmental protection vehicles,hybrid vehicles, pure electricvehicles and fuel cell vehicles have become hotspots of the energy conservation andenvironmental protection vehicles development. Among them, hybrid vehicles areconsidered to be the most effective and feasible way to achieve energy savingautomotive industry under the present conditions.Comparing with the conventional vehicles, the hybrid vehicles have all or part of thefollowing new functions: idling stop, regeneration brake, hybrid drive and pure electricdrive. The speed coupling hybrid vehicles which has complete four functions have themost prominent effects in energy saving and environmental protection. In this paper,taking speed coupling hybrid system with a single motor and a planetary gear couplingsystem as the research object, the following studies were done:①First, the structure of speed coupling system was introduced. On this basis, thepossible operating modes can be achieved by this transmission system were analyzedusing graph theory;②Second, a detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the engine,motor and batteries using in hybrid vehicles was carried out and the types of these threepower components were selected. The parameters matching of the engine, the ISGmotor, the battery, the transmission and planetary gear system was completed accordingto the basic parameters of the prototype vehicle and design requirements.③Third, physical models including the driving cycle, the driver, the engine, theISG motor, the planetary gear system model, the clutch model and the transmissionmodel were built based on the structure and parameters of the speed coupling hybridvehicles using AMESim software as modeling and simulation tool. The whole vehiclecontrol model was built using MATLAB/Simulink software as modeling and simulationtool.④Finally, a co-simulation platform was built by integrating the physical models inAMESim and the control model in Simulink. Dynamic performance simulations and fueleconomy simulations which are based on driving cycles were carried on to verify the vehicle parameters matching and the speed coupling hybrid vehicle’s advantage in fueleconomy compared with conventional vehicles.The building of co-simulation platform, the selection and matching design of thepower components have laid a certain foundation for the further research of speedcoupling vehicles with a single motor and a planetary gear set, and have a positivemeaning.
