Recent years, the vigorous advancement of the vehicle industry has vastly promoted the rapid economic growth. At the same time, the problem of energy shortage and environmental pollution is becoming increasingly serious.Hybrid Electric Vehicle,as a combination product of conventional Engine-driven Vehicles and pure Electric Vehicles,is one of the most efficient and feasible methods to solve these problems. It has not only the advantages of conventional Engine-driven Vehicles in aspects of good power performance and fuel economy, but also the characteristics of energy saving and low emission possessed by pure Electric Vehicles. Therefore, the hybrid electric vehicle has been a research and development hotspot of automobile research institutions as well as enterprises;and it is becoming the developing direction of the automobile industry.Taking the prototype car of the Brilliance Auto called Grace as the reference object, the research makes an in-depth study on its performance in various aspects.First of all,the parallel hybrid electric vehicle with two axle rear transmission is selected after analysis and comparison.According to the characteristics of parallel hybrid system, the system parameters matching design of reference vehicle model are carried out.The right engine, electric motor, batteries and other components are selected, and then,a suitable control strategy is made according to relevant requirements. The simulation model of the full vehicle power system is established based on the ADVISOR software platform.Secondly, due to the limitations that the ADVISOR software has only front-wheel drive model,ADVISOR is redeveloped so that it can be applied to the performance simulation of rear-wheel drive HEV.Last but not the least, the simulation result is analyzed, comparisons between front-wheel drive simulation model and the rear-wheel drive simulation model as well as that between parallel hybrid and prototype car are made. From the simulation results,it can be drawn that the overall performance parameters of new vehicle models meet the designed requirements.Meanwhile, the power performance as well as fuel economy is better, and the emission is lower than the original, which provides a theoretical basis for future designs of hybrid power vehicles.
