Thunderstorm is the leading cause of flight delays, now when thunderstormoccurs in Xi’an air traffic control region, air traffic controller(ATC) only supportrecommendations, specifically, the pilot decide how to fly to avoid thunderstorm area,but Pilots choose the path that often not the most reasonable. Xi’an air traffic controlregion is in the Chinese geographical center, which may affect the entire Northwestand even the running of the national route network. However, rerouting strategy forthe flights can find a path that is consistent with the actual airspace situation, but alsoreasonable to avoid the thunderstorm area. In this dissertation, we will consider theairspace structure of Xi’an air traffic control region, and then study the flight reroutingpath planning in the thunderstorm area preliminary.This paper briefly describes the routes layout, the current sectors division, thedistribution of the restricted zones and the dangerous zones and thunderstormsclimatic characteristics profile. Under certain circumstances, we can consider therestricted zones and the dangerous zones of Xi’an air traffic control region as staticflight forbidden areas(FFA), and the method for establishing the thunderstorm flightforbidden area based on Graham algorithm is proposed. Then,considering themovement, prediction error and boundary change of thunderstorms,the flightforbidden areas of a certain period of time are established. According to the shape,scale and distribution characteristics of thunderstorms flight forbidden areas, thethunderstorm flight forbidden area is divided into block flight forbidden area, ZonalDistribution flight forbidden area and Scattered Points Distribution flight forbiddenarea.Considering the thunderstorms scale of Xi’an air traffic control region isgenerally larger, this paper focuses on the rerouting path planning problem of theblock thunderstorms flight forbidden area. Firstly, the flight rerouting model of blockflight forbidden area is established, combined with the distribution of the restrictedzones and the dangerous zones of Xi’an air traffic control region. Then according to the distribution of the restricted zones and the dangerous zones, Xi’an air trafficcontrol region is divided into eight parts, and then based on the geometry algorithm tofind rerouting points, Then, the rerouting points are amended under the ellipticalconstraint, the orientation constraint and the route complexity constraint, respectively.Finally, the rerouting problem caused by thunderstorms occurring in Xi’an air trafficcontrol region is studied.This paper studies the flight rerouting path planning in the thunderstorm area ofXi’an air traffic control region preliminary. The proposed methods have strongpertinence and are easy to be realized. The research of this paper has practicalsignificance.
