Energy conservation and environmental protection are the consensus of all mankind. An appropriate amount of daylight in a building improves the visual comfort for its occupants and decreases the energy consumption of the buildings. Venetian blinds, as a common type of shading device, have been widely used for thermal and daylighting control. Split blinds, as a new type of venetian blinds, are different from the traditional venetian blinds, and the current study is little. Based on the analysis of daylight characteristic and influencing factors of daylighting, the control strategy of introducing daylight by split blinds and studying interior illumination is proposed, which offers an effective way to make a healthy, comfortable and energy-conserving interior luminous environment. The main contents are as follows:(1) The composition of daylight and basic light units were introduced; the characteristic of daylight from direct sunlight, the solar scattered light, and the propagation direction of daylight was summarized; the impact factors of daylighting from climate, the building’s surrounding environment and the building itself were analyzed.(2) Based on split blinds, a model of an office space which was located in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province was created in the whole building energy simulation program EnergyPlusTM. The work-plane horizontal illuminance values for the top, middle, and bottom sections of the split blinds at two sensor points in the model of the office space were simulated in the software EnergyPlusTM in different solar attitude angle, solar azimuth angle, exterior horizontal beam illuminance and diffuse horizontal illuminance.(3) This research developed a daylight illuminance prediction model based on spilt blinds by applying a series of adaptive neural fuzzy inference systems. And the prediction model was validated by evaluating the illuminance percentage error. The validation results showed that the prediction model can effectively predict real-time interior illuminance of split blinds. This research offers an effective approach to predict interior illuminance based on split blinds and it is significant to study intelligent lighting.(4) The control strategy of split blinds was researched, which can effectively calculate the optimum slat angles for the top, middle, and bottom sections of the split blinds, and the error of calculated optimum slat angles was analyzed. The results showed that the calculated optimum slat angles can reasonably match the actual optimum slat angles.
