The mechanical properties influence of the silty clay for temperature load is a major field of study in recent years the geotechnical engineering. It has an important value in the field of heat storage load、heating pipeline design、high radioactive waste disposal、soft foundation improvement、geothermal resources and so on. However the mechanical properties influence study of the silty clay for temperature load in the primary stage at present, so thermal characteristics of silty clay question under the temperature load deserves further study.Based on the above background, this paper has laboratory test on thermal properties of saturated silty clay under temperature and ambient pressure by using thermal consolidation experiment. The main research contents is two aspects including experimental research and mechanism analysis。 Test device system includes ambient pressure system, temperature control system and pore water pressure measuring system.Laboratory test on thermal properties of saturated silty clay under temperature and ambient pressure by using the above device, the temperature ranges from25℃to85℃, including10℃a temperature gradient, ambient pressure includes50KPa,100KPa,150KPa,200KPa. The temperature changing process includes from25℃to35℃(25℃-35℃),35℃-45℃...750C-85℃, per10℃of the heating process, and85℃-75℃,75℃-65℃...35℃-25℃per10cooling process. The test heating or cooling process is in a drainage condition, and each a temperature gradient changing (heating process or cooling process) time is120min. Stable temperature test process takes drainage and undrainage in two ways. Normal temperature (25℃) consolidation takes drainage consolidation state.Based on the above test plan and the test results, this paper analyzes the specimen of temperature, pore water pressure, body strain change process under the different confining pressure, variable temperature process, variable temperature gradient, and research pore water pressure and sample body strain of the evolutionary process according to the thermal characteristics of the mechanism.
