Energy crisis and environmental pollution has become two serious international issues all over the world. At present, many countries are committed to seek alternative fuels for engines. Low calorific value gas fuel which is widely used nowadays has the features of abundant resources, low cost and good emission, thus a huge potential market and economic profit is considered to using low calorific value gas fuel.The study object of this paper is low caloric gas fuel engine used to generate electricity. After deep anglicizing the operating characteristics of generate engine and combustion features of low calorific value gas fuel, this paper design and develop a electronic controlling system including fuel supply control system and exhaust gas temperature monitoring system. Designing, development and debugging of both hardware and software of the controlling system is conducted.Firstly, by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of different schemes, the overall design of the controlling system is determined. A’gas valve-mixers-electronic throttle’ system is used to control the fuel supply and the temperature of exhaust gas, according to the running conditions of the engine. Also, control strategy based on overall design is finished.Secondly, choosing Mc9s12dp512micro-chip of Freescale as ECU, and the type selection analysis of sensors and actuators used in the controlling system was conducted, the schematic and PCB design of corresponding hardware circuit was accomplished.In this paper, modular control program and the control strategy which includes open-loop control and closed-loop control based on the feedback of power sensor, are designed. The control software is programmed with CodeWarrior and C language.Finally, a simulation test bench has been built, using signal generators, potentiometers, and other devices to analog the input signals of sensors to debug and give simulation verification tests on the electronic control system, the results show that the control system has been validated. Calibration experiment of the electronic control has been conducted, and some of the calibration test data were got.
