The valve train is the more important components in an engine. It could influence thepower performance、the fuel consumption、the emission and the durability of the engine. It isstudied the design of the valve train and the development in the future over the country andabroad in the article. A1.5L natural aspirated engine was used a basic engine, and then1.5Lturbo engine was developed. At first, DOHC is used according to the working condition and the performancerequirement because the system is simple and precise. The cam profile of the openingduration is equal velocity–equal acceleration equation and the working duration is high–orderpolynomial equation. The system is driven by the cam directly. And the performance is decided by the camprofile. Based on the deeply study in the theory of creating the cam profile in this article, it alsoproposed how to design the profile of a turbo engine with VVT phase based on a naturalaspirated engine. The mathematical model is created with software matlab. And the engineperformance simulated with software GT-Power.The first version profile is measured from the benchmark engine. After the data isanalyses, the design target is gotten. And the data will be used in the simulation of the engineperformance. The data can be improved. The second, the sample can be produced with themodification data. Finally, the data is verified through the tests on the test bench. And the finaldata will be fixed. At the end of the article, the design of the other valvetrain Components are introduced indetail. Especially the deference of valve and valve spring between the turbo engine and thenatural aspirated engine.
