WPC(Wood-Plastic Composites)is a kind of material with neoteric andunique properties, its terminal products have varieties of morphologies andstructures in realistic conditions. Generally, research on morphology andstructure of product design is always overbroad and design methodologies andapplications aiming at a certain new material researches on specific products areespecially scarce. For the time being, WPC products in domestic market have notbeen spread extensively. But the majority researches aiming at WPC alwaysproceed from the point of Material Science right now and studies for designingWPC products are comparatively rare. However, WPC product design is themain procedure of WPC product research and practical application.Consequently, from the view of product design, to seek for the general methodand thinking suitable for the characteristics of WPC combined with productexamples will promote a better and broader development in practical applicationon a large scale.This essay takes WPC product design as the main research contents.First, learn all about related information on the green WPC material,especially studies its material properties and processing methods closely relatedwith product design, which provides accurate data for WPC product design.Second, be acquainted with the procedure and methodology of productdesign, the green design concepts, the material application in product design andother knowledge about product design theories and applications, whichestablishes a theoretical foundation for the future WPC product design.Third, take WPC chopping block, pallet and greenhouse skeleton forexample to analyze the performances and characteristics of these products whichstructures are from single to complex, during which combined with thecharacteristics and processing techniques of WPC by using Senior3d modelingand finite element analysis software Pro/E to improve or redesign the productappearances and structures. As a result, WPC products will have lower production costs and raw material costs with the precondition of meeting therequirements of the users’ needs.Last, by the process of designing WPC products, a set of product designthinking and methods suitable for WPC will be acquired so that a broader marketwill be developed for the actual production and application of this new greenmaterial as well as provide some models and references for product design ofother new materials. In this way, losses caused by unreasonable product designwould be largely cut down, time of product developments and its cost would alsobe brought down to a large extent. Thus, with the further development of theresearch, there will be more WPC products and WPC will be applied moreextensively. More significantly, better economic benefits, more preferableecological effect and superior social returns would be produced.The green WPC material will be better known as well as achieve morerecognition from both production enterprises and consumers under the influenceof research on WPC product design. Its significance lies not only turn thetraditional garbage into containing high-tech products and make the productsoccupy unique advantages in adapting to the modern industrial productiondesigning, production, installation, using, etc, but also influences environmentalprotection and requirements of building the saving-type society far-reaching andbeneficially from the standpoint of ecological design.
