According to the energy consumption statistics of urban transportation operation, the locomotive traction fuel consumption accounts for around50to60percent of the total energy consumption. With the development of the urban transportation construction, the total energy consumption is increasing with a rapid pace. Numerous unreasonable problems surfaced, which directly result in sharpening the energy consumption problems. The problems involve unreasonable design on urban railway lines, and unsatisfied operation. Therefore, it is a must for us to find the way for energy conservation,to conquer the key technology, which definitely, in a sense, contributes to reducing the operation cost of urban railway transportation, while takes a great effort on the economic benefit.In order to reduce the cost and consider the aim of the operation, such as the period of remaining high speed, the energy consumption and the operation frequency, This paper adopts the idea of energy conservation to the engineering design from the beginning. This paper exerts ourselves to accomplish the design of energy-saving lines, and then optimizes the way of operation on the optimal lines. The more perspective of fields the engineers design the project from, the more satisfied results they can get. Thus, the owner will afford less cost than before.The whole paper is divided into2main parts. One is to find the optimal scope of the lines, the other is to optimize the way of the operation.In searching for the scope of energy-saving slopes, the Urban Train Movement Calculation System is adopted. Slope combinations of different length of sections from1000m to1500m are simulated by5different trains from80km/h to120km/h. According to the energy consumption statistics from the simulation, the optimal combination sections are selected, including optimal length and the optimal angle of each slope of the sections, which provide the useful experimental statistics for the line design of the urban railway transportation.In optimization of train energy-saving operation, the energy-saving model with certain running time is set up, which is calculated by time interval step calculation method. The angle of the slope change points and the radius of the curve change points are designed as calculation points, when the train passing through the slope change points, the certain slope should be calaulated, and the train passing through the radius of the curve points is regarded as the calculation period, in which the train has the same accelerated speed.Also,the model is combinated by single point particle model and point particles model. when the train isn’t on the change point or on the slope change points, the single point particle model is adopted,otherwise,when the train is passing on the radius of the curve change points, the point particles model is adopted.
