Transportation system is a subsystem of the social system, it plays very important role to the healthy development of society. With the rapid development of society and the promotion of people’s living standard, the requirements become more and higher during their travel processes. Regional transport corridors as the backbone of the regional transport bear the main passenger and freight transport task in the region. They play key roles of strengthening of links between the cities and making great contribution to regional economic development. There are important theoretical and practical significance to study the passenger travel mode choice within the transport corridors. It can improve the service level of the various modes of transport, meet the diverse travel needs increasingly and specificity passenger market.An overview of the regional transport corridors and system dynamics theory is outlined in this paper. The travel psychological and the factors affecting the travel mode choices are analyzed for passenger travel within the channel. The relative change of the utility value of various modes of transport is calculated because of the changes of technical characteristics and transport structure. The system dynamics mechanism that the passengers choose travel mode according to the utility value of various modes in regional transport corridor is studied. The causal diagram of travel mode choice of travelers within the regional transport corridors is constructed and the corresponding system flow diagram related with the causal diagram is established too. The variables that are the total investment in fixed assets, the level of service supply and passenger travel demand satisfaction are described. The equation for the development of transport environment, equation of passenger traffic flow, macro and microscopic equation of the transportation modes utility value, and equation of passenger travel mode choice are established. Take the Chengdu-Chongqing corridor as an example, the changes of the utility value of each transportation modes is calculated in the case of technical-economic characteristics of each mode of transport changes. It illustrates the dynamics mechanism of travel choice. The system dynamics simulation for the changes of passenger flow because of the changes in the technical and economic characteristics of the various modes of transport is carried out using Vensim software.
