With the rapid development of urbanization, motorization, China’s urban traffic congestion is getting worse. Although the city planning and construction of the road network has a huge material and financial resources, but results were not satisfactory. Previous studies generally agreed that urban road supply can not meet the traffic demand is the root cause of traffic problems, and proposed to build denser network, wider road. However, the promblems were not solved, and made the cities into a cycle of "congestion-widen the road-congestion". Based on the above, it attempts to study the urban road network planning from the quantitative point of view and xplores methods to solve the problems.Select the grid-like network network used as research object, the article attempts to analyze the road network planning indicators and concepts both based on the quantitative analysis. First, select typical cases of the urban road network models omestic and international, and discussed the quantitative results of the cases’combination based on the introduction of a new indicator of the statistical content and using the unified statistical standards to seek the the problems and shortcomings in indicators of urban road construction.Secondly, in terms of planning concepts, compared our typical road network model and the model under the guidance of the pure motor concept, the article attempts to explore the characteristics of the concept of our typical network model planning. Take full account of the special modes of transportation, it discusses the transport efficiency of different modes of transportation, expores the road network suitable mode, analyzes the lack of our current road network model planning and summed up the deficiencies of our road network planning in the technical concept. Finally, the results of the comprehensive quantitative and combined with the existing conditions of the urban road, the article suggests the optimization method techniques of the pure motor and mixed modes of transportation, that are verified by actual cases. Particularly for mixed traffic network that our nation’s most common modes, the article proposes separation road network that compared with the traditional road network optimization method. Through the application of traffic simulation software, it has built a simulation model to analyze the two network characteristics, transportation efficiency, to compare the results of the optimization program verification.
