There are certain differences in transportation efficiency, traffic allocation, traffic accessibility, and land use between different road network models.Only by fully understanding the road network structure characteristics can various road network models be better applied. This article makes a statistical analysis of the road network parameter indicators in different urban areas, studies the composition of the road network spatial structure and explores the structural characteristics of typical road network models, which provides a scientific theoretical basis for road network planning. The specific research contents are summarized as follows:First, through statistical analysis of local road network samples in 15 different urban areas(suburbs),it is found that the differences in geometric layout and topological characteristics between networks mainly come from these planning indicators: the number and type of intersections, the density and grade of road networks structure, proportion of cul-de-sac roads, number and proportion of continuous roads, connectivity and depth values, etc. And the road network model is divided into square grid network, rectangular structure network,Tree-type structure network and cul-de-sac network. Then, based on the above four types of local road network structures, the axis model based on spatial syntax and the traffic accessibility model based on GIS platform are established respectively.Under the quantitative analysis technology, the road network patterns with different structural characteristics show different spatial characteristics: The closer to the "Net" structure, the better the analysis of the path Depth,Integration,Choice,Intelligibility, and traffic accessibility index values;the closer to the "Tree" structure, the path The distribution of Depth value,Choice value and traffic accessibility are quite different. The key design indicators that affect these differences mainly include the distribution of backbone roads in the road network, the connectivity of the road network, the classification of road grades, the ratio of interpenetrating roads, and the density index of bus lines. Finally,by comparing various index factors related to road traffic characteristics, the differences between different road network modes are analyzed, the traffic characteristics of various road network modes are interpreted.Besides, the optimal design method is proposed for the shortcomings of each road network mode and use examples to verify the results of its optimized design.According to the influencing factors of the development of the urban road network layout model, the design principles and reasonable applicable areas of the typical road network model are analyzed from the two structural characteristics of "Tree" and "Net".
