With the increasing of the strengthen degree of the marine diesel engine, the thermal loads in the parts of diesel engines’ combustion chamber become higher and higher and this may lead to the failures of the combustion chamber parts. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate on the combustion chamber parts’ temperature field before the diesel engine is designed or meliorated.In this paper, the combustion chamber parts’ temperature field of the MAN B&W6S50MC-C diesel engine is calculated by FEA software. The steady temperature field, the transient temperature field and temperature field of startup conditions is analysed.Firstly, the geometry model of the piston, piston rings and cylinder liner is established according to the design paper.The FEA method is used to discretize the geometry model. The working process model of the diesel engine is established by AVL BOOST. Secondly, the boundary conditions of thermal analysis are elaborated and loaded in the FEA model, then the temperature field is calculated by ANSYS software.The results reveal that the temperature distribution is nonuniform and temperature fluctuation only exists in the shallow of the gas side when the diesel engine working in the stable state. The temperature fluctuations of the piston, piston rings and cylinder will be grate and this will cause large thermal stress when the diesel engine working in the stating conditions.The theory basis for design, melioration and management of the diesel engine is provided by analyzing the temperature field of the piston, piston rings and cylinder.
