Research On The Mandatory Elements In The Overall Urban Design

Through 30 years of reform and opening up, it has brought great changes to city by rapid urbanization:The size of cities are becoming increasingly ambitious, the functions are increasingly richer. The cities have undergone drastic changes in the urban environment. To solve urban issues above, overall-urban-design has been widely used in the guidance and control on urban construction activities. At present, it has being no national norms and management approaches on the formulation and supervision about the Overall-urban-design. The paper considers the key elements of the overall- urban-design, which have big influences on the spatial environment of cities in future development, as a breakthrough point of the paper. Such as space environment, morphology, characteristics, cultural and etc. Many aspects were discussed on rapid urbanization and construction of China.The paper has analyzed strengths and weaknesses of the overall-urban -design in urban environment and characteristics of image. It has learned formulation and technical means from other things such as "The compulsory provisions of engineering construction standards" "The Interim Provisions of city planning mandatory elements" "The standards and guidelines of city design in Shandong province" "The standards and guidelines of Hongkong planning". The mandatory elements in the overall-urban-design were proposed as core content and design focus of a whole work.Firstly, the paper finished theoretical summary and case studies and put out systems and elements which have huge roles on the style of urban characteristics and the structural framework of spatial development. and cleared the city’s main subsystems. Secondly, it is extracted a number of important material and non-material elements as mandatory elements in the overall-urban-design, emphasizing a strict formulation and design to these words. Then, the paper has refereed regulatory detailed planning and proposed requirements and priorities on these mandatory elements, finally. The paper presents the mandatory elements of the overall-urban-design involving two parts:mandatory elements of the physical space and non-material.It is constituted that the key points of the material and spatial elements by six aspects. For instance, the urban pattern of natural ecosystems, urban spatial structure, open space system, landscape style system, city landmark and node, building height control of specific areas. There has being six key aspects Of non-material elements such as landscape culture and geomancy elements, urban culture, historical heritage and cultural relics, urban characteristics of People, folk activities and customs, People activity system. The above will serve as core areas of the mandatory elements of the overall- urban-design. It will be strictly implemented in the whole work process as prescriptive requirements and standards to guide and provide the technology standard of overall-urban-design and final-results. And then prove effectiveness on the construction of the urban environment.
