To the self-balanced system as the research object, there are more studies of the standing two-wheeled self-balanced vehicle by referring to the domestic and international research literature, but the research on two-wheeled and two-seated self-balanced electric vehicle is little, and there is less research to the structure. This paper summarized the domestic and foreign relevant research, analyzed and designed the structure of the two-wheeled and two-seated self-balanced electric vehicle by using modern-design method. All the work can be listed as follow:1、After analyzing the two-wheeled self-balanced system and summarizing the feature, a condition was gained, which provided the base for the following designs.2、The overall design of a two-wheeled and two-seated self-balanced electric vehicle was finished by using modern-design method, and a plan of the total design can be obtained. The most important work is the layout of the vehicle, which can be finished by selecting the key parts of the vehicle and referring3d model of the human body and the design theory of the car. And according to the goal of vehicle design parameters and the type of motor, the speed of the motor and power of parameters and the final ratio were determined. The parameters of the battery were calculated, which can check the dynamic performance of the vehicle. The result of it meets the requirements. At last, the assembly of the vehicle was completed.3^The key components were designed based on the overall design of the vehicle, which included the suspension system, the frame, the distribution box and the steering system. There was a detail design on the structure of the suspension, especially the spring. In order to meet the driving habits of people, this thesis used the mechanical steering gear which mainly took advantage of the potentiometer to realize the precise control of the direction. There were two auxiliary wheels on the vehicle which increased the safety and protection of the system. This thesis gave a detail geometry calculation for the wheels. In the frame, a sliding guide system installed on it for the driver and passenger to change the driving state of the vehicle.4、 The mechanical properties of the critical components of the vehicle were analyzed in ANSYS, which included the suspension, the frame and the distribution box. The result of it showed they met the requirements. Besides that, the structure of the frame had an optimization design for the big margin. The analysis of the optimized structure met the requirements, also the purpose of lightweight design was achieved.5、The vehicle ride performance was analyzed by using multi-body dynamics application. This thesis built the whole vehicle model and made the car driving on the B level road on the different speed in the software ADMAS to analysis. The acceleration of the root-mean-square value was calculated to make objective assessment for the comfort of the vehicle. They were found to have met the requirements.
