Recently, with the improvement of living conditions, three-wheeled motorcycle users concern more and more about the ride comfort of their vehicles. The ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycle refers to the comfort range of the driver in the environment of vibration and impact during the driving condition, and it also includes the intactness of goods in the rear box. Improving the ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycle becomes an urgent problem to three-wheeled motorcycle industry. As for as I know, there isn't much research work regarding the ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycles, not to mention the positive results. This paper dealt with ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycle, including building up the evaluation system and test methods, developing the vibration test platform. Through simulation analysis and experimental method, we have optimized the vehicle skeleton of three-wheeled motorcycles and improved the ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycle.In the first, through the study of existing international evaluation standard regarding the effects of mechanical vibration of human body comfort, including ISO international standard and absorption power method, and according to the international standard ISO2631and ISO5349, and also referring to the related criteria of our country, we have established the evaluation index to the ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycle, and have also built up the evaluation methods and test methods.Then, with the established evaluation methods and test methods, we analyzed the requirements to build up the vibration test platform of three-wheeled motorcycle, and then we developed and constructed the vibration test platform with our specific hardware and software equipments.In the meantime, according the evaluation method of ride comfort, we preformed the ride comfort test of Model DY110ZH-2A three-wheeled motorcycle on our established vibration test platform, including static neutral position test and random driving condition test. Through data processing, we got the parameters of each evaluation index which reflect the actual vibration status of all kinds of working conditions. The tests showed that the ride comfort of this model was not very satisfying and required improvement.Later, using three-wheeled motorcycles frame as the target, through infinite element analysis method, we conducted the model analysis and stiffness analysis in order to better understand their dynamical properties. We put forward the specific optimization schemes to the three-wheeled motorcycle frame without changing too much structure size of the original frame.Eventually, we compared the vibrations of three-wheeled motorcycles before and after optimization, including comparisons of infinite element analysis of vehicle frame and ride comfort test. The experiments results show that the overall ride comfort of three-wheeled motorcycle has been improved effectively. According to our extensive experimental data, we can safely conclude that the ride comfort test platform in our work can satisfy the testing requirements of ride comfort test. Also, with the combination of the ride comfort test results and the subjective feelings of driver, we prove the effectiveness of our established ride comfort evaluation method of three-wheeled motorcycle.
