In civil engineering construction, Artificial reinforced foundation would be put into practice in order to reduce the ground settlement, when natural foundation can not satisfy the settlement after construction under dynamic loading action, composite foundation with gravel piles has a obvious action in treating saturated sand foundations, Thus, Composite foundation with gravel piles becomes main means of processing saturated sand foundations. However, the research concerning about the settlement behavior of composite foundation with gravel piles mainly focuses on the case under static loading and bearing capacity of composite foundation. With regard to problem of settlement and deformation, it continues to be concerned about all along, and also a project to be studied deeply.In the paper, the characteristics of dynamic loading are introduced firstly, especially traffic loading, and then movable invariable loading will be decided on as the simulation of traffic loading. Then the dynamic characteristics of composite foundation and present researching situation are stated. Finally, the project to be studied is simplified as a problem of plane-strain, and then utilizing both linear-elastic model and elastic-plastic model, dynamic response of composite foundation under traffic loading will be analyzed with FEA method. The main contents contain the following aspects:1. Viewing the cross section of composite foundation with gravel piles as the studying target, the traffic loading will be replaced by the movable invariable loading. Analyzing and summarizing the dynamic response of natural foundation and composite foundation with gravel piles under traffic loading.2. Analyze the responding influence of settlement and vertical stress of composite foundation with gravel piles under traffic loading, while the parameters of stone columns, including column length, column distance and column diameter, are changed.3. Analyze the responding influence of settlement and vertical stress of composite foundation with gravel piles under traffic loading, while the speed are changed.4. Analyze the responding influence of settlement and vertical stress of composite foundation with gravel piles under traffic loading, while the bottom plate is various.5. Analyze the responding influence of settlement and vertical stress of composite foundation with gravel piles under traffic loading, while the elastic modulus of stone columns are changed.The method and relevant results of this paper will provide certain theoretical basis and reference value for research on dynamic response of composite foundation with gravel piles under traffic loading in the future.
