The paper, considering the current situation of Chinese heavy-haul railway on existing line as well as the result of exist domestic and foreign study, studies on the problems related to combined heavy-haul train. The paper, taking mining transmission capacity on existing line as the focal point, following organization of train flow as main line, studies the theory of combined station layout, the theory of combined station site selection within terminal, and also the transformation scheme of the combined station yard.From the macroscopic aspects, the paper firstly generates an initial plan basing on different direction combination probability of train in station which is determined by the quantity of transit train and through train. Then, the paper, taking section as basic unit, establishes the bi-level planning model, in which the upper model targets the maximum transmission capacity and the lower model targets minimum additional operation time and transformation cost, then presents genetic algorithm to solve design scheme. The paper concludes:(1) the relevance between layout of combined station and layout of marshalling station is comparative high;(2) the passenger train quantity restricts the combined train quantity;(3) the combined train running distance should be equal to goods transportation distance.From the mesoscopic aspects, considering operational process of combined train and influence to station and terminal caused by combined train, the paper establishes the index system following the below principles:(1) coordination of capacity between lines and stations,(2) discriminatory treatment between the running direction of empty wagon flow and heavy wagon flow,(3) operation interference is minimum,(4) locomotive route is unhindered. The paper uses comprehensive fuzzy AHP to determine whether station is suitable to transform into combined station, concludes that large-sized passenger station and its ancillary facilities have great potential to transform into combined station.From the microscopic aspects, the paper determines station layout type adequate for combined train by analyzing the feature of different station types. The scheme for intermediate station is to extend receipt and departure line in some one end; the scheme for district station pays attention to route for receipt train, departure train and locomotive in and out section, but also takes considering of train quantity. The extending track scheme for marshalling station focuses on receipt yard and departure yard, while marshalling yard can add shuttling lines. The paper also present the suggestion about new-build marshalling station, and taking Xuzhou north station, Yangtun station and Xuzhou station for example to suggest transformation scheme.
