Research Of Urban Space Update And Development Of Datong In The Process Of Its Ancient City Protection Based On The Theory Of Collage City

Since Datong has undergone many changes and rapid development during the last several years, this paper focused on the problems emerged in the process of protecting this ancient city. Based on the analysis and research of the history of Datong and its multiversioned urban planning, this paper defined many problems about the update and development of Datong’s urban space. After the author’s meticulous spot investigation,this paper summarized some key issues,such as the chaotic view of urban space, the confounded memories of different historical periods of the city, the confusion of the indeterminate goal of its public space planning,etc. By referring to the theory of Collage City and considering the current situation of Datong ancient city protection, this paper explained the complexity of urban development and proposed nichetargeting solutions. The main point was to apply the theory of Collage City to Datong urban development planning to avoid going through winding course or ignoring the complexity and dynamic adaptation in the future, only when the historical and cultural heritage of Datong is under protection, a more lively and sustainable development can be achieved.
