A large number of imge data will be obtained when space remote senseinstrument is working.So,high-speed image data acquisition and storage system isneeded in a variety of ground and airbone experiment for later image processing anddata analysis.This system must be easy to carry and transport.The goal of this paper is to design a portable data acquisition system for datastorage and data transmmision.which not only can realize the image data teal-timetransmission but also can be used in offline storage.The input of the design uses theLVDS interface and fiber interface to meet different cameras data acquisition andstorage requirements while the output uses USB and Ethernet to achievecommunication between the system and host computer.USB has the advantage ofplug-and-play and high-speed which can fulfill the high speed data transmissionrequirement between remote sensing instrument and computer. Ethernet is selectedto achieve the remote data transmission and the share of resources. Electronic diskand optical disk are chosed in this system to fuifill data storage. This paper mainlystudies the use of electronic hard disk for data storage. In order to meet the higherrequirements of performance, FC hard disk is studied after the design requirements of the system have been fulfilled. FPGA is used as system control chip and VHDLprogramming language is used to achieve data transmission, data storage, dataplayback functions, to complete the different applications of the data transmissionrequirement.This design is a kind of universal data transmission system, the realization ofthe way points two mode of online and offline.When the system worked underonline mode, the data collected by remote sensing instrument go through the speedtransmission interface to FPGA,and then transmited to computer through PCcommunication module. When worked under offline the system receives image datafor real-time storage to fulfill small size and high speed requirements of the dataacquisition system in some special application.The data stored in disc will betransmited through PC communication module to computer for data analysis.Thissystem is divided to several modules by the idea of top-down and modular. Thehardware and software design in the system have been debuged while the operationof the system and the test results have been analysised in this paper. The test of thissystem show that data transfer rate is up to48MB/s when worked under onlinemode and the offline storage speed can reach to35MB/s. The system has theadvantages of small volume, convenient carrying. A series of experimental resultsshow that the system can achieve the expected goal to realize data transmission andstorage.
