Traffic capacity of harbor public channel is one of the most important factors affecting the throughput of harbor; and it’s also the key element that determines the development of harbor’s economy and industry. In recent years, with increasing of ship quantity, the diversification of ship type and the complication of the transportation network, the entering or leaving traffic flows become more and more complicated. In addition, due to the increasing of the number of ports and the enhancement of the efficiency of cargoes’loading and unloading, ship’s berthing and departure become more and more frequent, the microcosmic behaviors that berthing ship across from the out-port traffic flow and departure ship across from the in-port traffic flow occur frequently in harbor water areas. Therefore, for the development and variation of the ship traffic flow in modern ports, mining the influence of port channel utilization and traffic capacity affected by ship behavior characteristics becomes an important direction of research in the area.Based on analyzing of the characteristics harbor system and ship behavior, systematic research on the consumption of channel resources is carried out, respectively from the space dimension and the time dimension. Then, with the application of the Space-Time Consumption Theory and its basic model, a traffic capacity calculation model based on ship behavior characteristics and the consumption of port channel time-and-space resources is built. Concretely, the main content of the dissertation includes the followings:(1) The basic structure of port system, the process of ship motion in port, and the factors that may affect the traffic capacity are briefly analyzed.(2) Four basic ship behaviors, which are normal sailing behavior, crossing behavior, encounter behavior and ship’s turning behavior, are put forward; and based on the classical model of ship domain, the scales of the specific domains of the four behaviors are analyzed respectively.(3) By applying the specific domains model and combining with port channel dimensions, and a port channel space resources calculation model is established.(4) The motion laws of traffic flow corresponding ship behaviors are analyzed, and the conflict probabilities, between normal sailing ships and crossing ships, between normal ships and encounter ships, between sailing ships and turning ships, are analyzed, and a port channel time resources calculation model is built.(5) Based on ship behavior and time consumption and space consumption models, combining the application of the Space-Time Consumption Theory and one dimensional space-time consumption calculation model, a harbor channel traffic capacity calculation model is put forward.By analyzing the relation between ship characteristics and harbor channel traffic capacity, a calculation model of traffic capacity is built in the dissertation. The work has certain theoretical and methodological value in the research on harbor channel traffic capacity calculation, and also can provide technical support for the decision-making on future planning and design of harbor channel.
