Energy is a hot issue in today’s social development and it has become a consensus of the whole society to vigorously develop renewable energy. However, because of its own characteristics, the reliability of renewable energy generation is low and this will affect the balance of the power in power system. The application of Microgrid will provide a new approach to solve this problem, where power management and load control can be used to ensure power balance.Power quality in Microgrid is a problem that hinders the development of Microgrid. Renewable energy generation system requires a large number of energy conversion devices which are made of power electronic devices, and too many power electronic components can damage power quality in Microgrid. How to solve the power quality problem of Microgrid poses a great challenge for experts and scholars. High Frequency AC (HFAC) Microgrid is an effective way to solve the problems of renewable energy generation system, because high order harmonics can be effectively filtered. The power generated by distributed generators can be delivered to the load side by high-frequency AC in HFAC Microgrid and the high-frequency AC can be converted to50Hz AC by cycloconverter. Although power loss can be increased by high-frequency AC transmission lines, it can be maintained within an acceptable range because of the small size of Microgrid. HFAC Microgrid are mainly suitable under such circumstances where small-scale grids are used and high-quality power is required. In this paper a HFAC Microgrid is modeled in the software of Matlab/Simulink and power quality under different operating conditions is analyzed. The results show that HFAC Microgrid can improve power quality and keep power loss within an acceptable range.
