The rapid economic development and increasing electrical demand have promoted the development of renewable energy. Wind power generation technology, the most valuable clean energy generation technology, has made great development in recent years under this circumstance. As the higher proportion of the wind turbines installed in the power system, how to integrate the wind power into dispatching operation and formulate better strategies for the wind power active power control is of great significance. Therefore, this paper chooses wind farm active power optimization and control strategies as research topic and the main contents of this paper have been completed as follows:(1)This paper studies the working principle and the operation control of the double fed inducted generator (DFIG), adds the active power dispatching command control module to the DFIG in order to fulfill the active power control according to the setting value of active power, and finally simulates a variety of active power control modes of wind farm.(2)The factors which influence the optimization of active power are studied in this paper and the optimization model for wind turbines active power output in the wind farm is presented due to those factors. Two optimization models, including real-time model and multi-period generation scheduling model, are presented according to different period scales of dispatching instruction.(3)To solve the models, this paper works the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm out by MATLAB. Furthermore, the expansion factor is taken into consideration to improve the global search capability of this algorithm.(4)In this paper, a wind farm active power control system has been established. On the basis of the proposed optimization model for wind turbines active power output in the wind farm, certain cases are simulated and analyzed under different circumstances and various control strategies are compared. Besides, a control flow for active power control in wind farm is presented at the end of this paper. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the optimization model and the PSO algorithm and provide some references to active power control strategies of wind farm.
