In present-day society, with the improvement of performance comprehensiveness in landscaping, auditory design has become the predominant component gradually and it reflects the characteristic and quality of the environmental landscape directly. In the environment, vision, auditory sense, smell, taste, touch, etc. constitute the subjective feelings of individuals and the main function is to serve the needs of the visual. However, hearing, as a secondary landscape perception, has been ignored by designer, which always increases the entire sense of beauty in landscaping. The lack of vision can contribute to the lack of vividness and interactive elements while the lack of hearing may reduce people’ emotionality. In this paper, the analysis of the perception of the environment, including vision, auditory sense, smell, taste, touch, which constitute the various elements of people’s subjective feelings is illustrated and the auditory perception has been regarded as the main object of study. As the main supplementary element, various categories of sounds in the scene, such as keynote, marking tone, signal tone etc., and visitors’awareness and feelings can promote the entire information and impression rapidly and effectively. After studying the local and international classical cases, Qingdao coastal areas is a field for empirical research while Qingdao seaside baths and Music Square have been studied as key cases in order to summarize elements and application methods of the auditory landscape and provide the reference for similar landscape design hopefully.
