With the development of the high-rise building in our country, we need shear wallswith more and more high performance. In this paper, based on the practical engineering needs,a new kind of composite shear wall-steel tube confined high strength concrete shear wall(STCHSCW) was put forward. As a new type of structural component, there is no relevantresearch about it. To verify its practicality and effectiveness, and provide basis for applicationin engineering, the mechanics performance under axial compression is experimentallystudied,with20steel tube confined high strength concrete shear wall specimens withdifferent section. The nonlinear finite element method (FEM) analysis results are alsoobtained.The axial compression test of20specimens, is conducted to observe the influence ofsector factors such as the concrete strength, steel tube ratio, longitudinal reinforcement andstirrup ratio and slenderness ratio. The failure mechanism and force mechanism analysis arealso conducted with them and bearing capacity calculation formula of STCHSCW under axialcompression is put forward. According to the study on many literatures and regulations, theappropriate method to calculate the axial compressive composite stiffness in the range ofelasticity is developed,which separates the STCHSCW into the outer steel concrete, and thesteel tube confined high-strength concrete, and calculates their axial press compositestiffness respectively to compose the whole stiffness of shear wall, compared with theexperimental results.Based on the experimental results, the nonlinear FEM analysis of specimens’ models isintroduced for theoretical study. Theoretical results and the experimental results are contrastedmutually.The research results of this study proved the feasibility and practicability of STCHSCW,and provided basis for follow-up study. The research is of great significance for engineeringdesign and practice.
