In recent years,―truck-tailer‖gets more attention from all walks of life in China as a newrise of advanced transportation organization., because it can improve transport efficiency, easetraffic pressure, reduce energy consumption, save transportation cost, increase handlingefficiency, promote the multimodal transport etc, and it has been more used in containertransportation of large coastal port and intermediate products road flow of some largeindustrial enterprise currently. However, as a powerful tool for efficient road transport,―truck-tailer‖is facing various promotion problems, because of not being yet to find a suitablesupport points, and the lack of specific and effective operating environent, only generally usedin the linkage between the Bonded Port and Logistics Park just as a new transportation mode.In academic research, most studies of domestic researchers is only limited to the macroaspects of the linkage relationship, like policy, function, and development measures betweenthe Bonded Port and Logistics Park.The advanced ideas and content of―truck-tailer‖has notgotten a very good extension, meanwhile, how to carry out―truck-tailer‖more scientificallystill got little expansion.Based on the research shortage of operation mode and mathematical modeling of―truck-tailer‖, the main research work is summarized as follows:Firstly, Basic on the conclusion of the application status of―truck-tailer‖, put forwardthree kinds of operation mode, called―Vertical service‖,‖Segmented service‖,―Circulationservice‖, and―Network service‖. And contrast analysis on these three kinds of operationmode, further expound the applicable condition, advantages and disadvantages of threeoperation mode.Secondly, further research on the VRP of―truck-tailer‖,basic on the characteristic of―truck-tailer‖and basic theory of the traditional multiple depot vehicle routing problem withfull load (MDVRPFL). According to the characteristic of three kinds of operation mode, theVRP of―truck-tailer‖can be divided into―empty trailer back to yard‖,―empty trailers don’thave to return to the yard "two major categories of vehicle scheduling problem. Thenestablish mathematical models for two major categories of―truck-tailer‖-VRP.Finally, basic on the mathematical models of two major categories of―truck-tailer‖-VRP,improve the existing vehicle scheduling problem solving algorithm and design thecorresponding algorithm based on greedy algorithm. A detailed comparison is promotedbetween two major categories of―truck-tailer‖-VRP and MDVRPFL, to verify the effectiveness of the model and algorithm.Through the contrast analysis, the calculation result shows that accomplish the samefreight demands under the same environment constraints,―truck-tailer‖turns out to be moretractor purchase cost saving, and more vehicle transportation costs reducing and energyconservating and emission reducting etc. Under the correct use of―truck-tailer‖, it can savetransportation distance15%~45%, save the tractor number as high as40%~60%, improvethe utilization rate of tractor to about50%, compared with the traditional modes oftransportation. In order to provide new methods and ideas for promoting the use of―truck-tailer‖, changing development way of modern logistics, creating efficient and greentransport system.
