In this article, the effect of montmorillonite on the properties of extrusion casting starchfilms and the technology of solution casting starch films were systematically studied. Theextrusion casting starch films were compared with the solution casting starch films. The mainresults were as follows:1. The water resistance of the films was improved effectively and the retrogradation ofthe films was delayed by adding montmorillonite. With the addition of montmorilloniteincreased, the tensile strength and water dissolution time gradually increased, while theelongation gradually decreased. The optical microscopy analysis of the film surface suggestedthat: the films surface became more flat and smooth by adding montmorillonite. The additionof montmorillonite was better with no more than3%, or the membrane became more brittleand the mobility of the thermoplastic starch was lower.2. The suitable film medium was the plastic plate and the suitable film substrate was thepotato starch oxidation. With the addition of starch increased, the water vapor permeabilityand the elongation gradually decreased, while the tensile strength gradually increased. Thesuitable addition amount of starch was3%.3. The suitable plasticizer was glycerol. The flexibility of the films was improvedeffectively by adding glycerol. With the addition of glycerol increased, the water vaporpermeability and the elongation gradually increased, while the tensile strength graduallydecreased.4. The water resistance of the films and the tensile strength was improved effectively byadding CMC. The suitable addition amount of CMC was0.5%.5. The suitable drying temperature was40℃.6. The result of the orthogonal test showed that: according to their lethal effect on theproperties of starch, the influencing factors could be arranged as follows: The additive amountof glycerol>the additive amount of CMC>drying temperature>the additive amount ofstarch. Combined with a single factor experiment results and orthogonal test results todetermine the best prescription of starch film for: CMC0.5%、glycerol1%、potato starchoxidation density is3%、drying temperature for40℃. According to the best formula made into film, the films transmission was82.72%、 the tensile strength was5.372MPa、the elongation was43.75%、the water vapor through rate was1.932(10-7g/s'm'Pa), and the starch membranesurface smooth.7. The tensile strength and the water resistance of the extrusion casting starch filmswere better. The transparency and the flexibility of the solution casting starch films werebetter. Compared with the solution casting starch films, the biggest advantage of the extrusioncasting starch films was the high production efficiency, and suitable for mass production.Compared with the extrusion casting starch films, the biggest advantage of the solutioncasting starch films was that its transparency and flexibility was better, and suitable for theinner packing food which had higher demand for the visibility of the content.
