Castellated light-weight steel portal frame is a new type of light-weight steel structure, and castellated component has been widely used in civil engineering. Today, the researches on the castellated structure have more thorough in developed courtry, however only limited to component’s force performance in domestic. Research on structural system of the whole static performance and seismic performance is still lack, which severely restricting castellated light-weight steel structure of application and promotion. Therefore, study the new structure form under the static force and under the earthquake force performance has become an urgent research subject.This structure form and structural members have been studied by our team. Based on the preliminary research, this paper designs and completes three castellated light-weight steel portal frames for vertical load experiments and two experimental researchs for the low cycle loading. Verify the feasibility of ABAQUS and also use it to analyse twelve finite-element models. The main research contents include:study the stress development law under the vertical static force of the new structure, the stress distribution of typical orifice and section, failure mechanism, reveals the static performance finally. Discussesed the castelled light-weight steel portal frame’s strain development, hysteretic performance, failure pattern under low reversed cyclic loading. In this paper, Loading-displacement hysteretic loops is obtained, its hysteresis characteristic, strength, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation, and other seismic performances are also revealed. Finite-element software has been used to simulate specimens, by this way to supplementary analysis model and verify the feasibility of the finite-element analysis. Base on finite-element analysis, research the effect of the hole form, web-opening ratio, loading form and ribbed stiffener on castellated steel structure.This research shows that specimens are damaged due to the buckling and the whole structure eventually ductility destruction; Castellated light-weight steel portal frame’s stiffness is high, the seismic performance is good; the hole form on web impact mechanical behavior severe, circular hole form is better than a hole with hexagon form; Inclined stiffener in node region can reduce shear deformation, but to little effect to improve on the overall performance; The results of simulated by AB AQUS is in good agreement with experimental research results, verify the feasibility of the simulation by Finite-element method; Loading form and web-opening ratio are great effect on mechanical properties of castellated steel structureIn this paper, research results are of significance to spread castellated light-weight steel portal frame develop and application.
