With the native resources are depleting and the continuous improvement of the ecological awareness of environmental protection, how to utilization of volcanic rock powder, improve the local ecological environment of mining area, has become a new area of research for experts and scholars. In this study, the volcanic rock powder, fly ash and bottom slag as the main raw material, by adding some improvements in materials forming and firing performance additives, using a pressure molding method, preparation of the excellent performance of the volcanic brick, achieving comprehensive development and utilization of the variety of industrial solid waste.The microstructure and crystal phases of the law solid wastes have been tested by TG-DSC, SEM and XRD. The results indicated that using volcanic rock powder to prepare volcanic brick is doable, and from the chemical point of view the volcanic powder, fly ash and bottom slag to meet the requirements of the brick-making. In this study, XRD and SEM tested the phase compositions and microstructures of the bricks with volcanic rock. The results showed that the main crystalline phases were CaAl2Si2O8、Al2Si05、Al2Si205(OH)4、Na(Si3Al)O8、Fe2O3、CaSiO3.and they interlaced as granular, small rod like crystals and strips. The pores dispersed uniformly in the samples.In this study, The water absorption, porosity, bulk density and compressive strength of the bricks with volcanic rock were measured. Analysis shows that the porosity was about24%~42%, water absorption was about16%~27%, bulk density was about1.55g/cm3~1.57g/cm3, compressive strength was about25-103MPa. Porosity and water absorption of the bricks with volcanic rock generally decreases with increasing temperature, bulk density and compressive strength of the bricks with volcanic rock generally increases with increasing temperature. The main reason is that with the sintering temperature increase, liquid content increase but porosity reduce. One of the key technology of the preparation of high performance and high standards volcanic brick is control the firing temperature of the samples. The best firing temperature the bricks with volcanic rock is1060℃.
