In the power system, transient over-voltage is one of the most common phenomenon, its occurrence may pose a threat to the safety of the insulation of large generators and substation equipment. In recent years in the35kV system, with the rapid development of large, high-energy-consuming enterprises as well as new substation technology, switchgear has been widely used, the ratio of using power cables as incoming lines have been increasing year by year, the capacitance current to the ground will also increase. More and more insulation accidents caused by the over-voltage in the35kV system, and the resulting social impact and economic loss is enormous. Based on the accident statistics from2003of Dexing Copper Mine power system, we can find a number of accidents caused due to35kV over-voltage, some cause important line to a power outage, which directly affects the power supply of key generated line; and some cause switchgear burning, explosion of lightning arrester and voltage transformer. Therefore, for the insulation safety prediction, detection of the insulation state must be calculated on the basis of over-voltage, and resolution of the security risks that exist in the insulation can being carried in a timely manner.By the analysis and calculation of transient over-voltage during the power system, the article will inspect the substation equipment insulation condition in-depth under a variety of over-voltages to forecast the security of equipment insulation state. The aim is to enable the operators to find out the insulation accident in electrical equipment tending to occur as early as possible, and to reduce the probability of insulation accident in power system. On this basis, some safety measures to prevent the insulation accident are offered.
