It is an important way for Wind Power and Solar photovoltaic connected to the grid to develop and utilize intermittent power in large-scale, response to the challenge of reducing emission of power system. The active output of intermittent power is determined by natural resources, such as wind and solar. So it got the feature of randomness and fluctuant, which leads to lots of adverse effects on the grid.In order to solve this problem caused by fluctuation of output, the solution of using energy storage system is taken into account. Due to the high price of storage system, how to use it in limited capacity to improve the active output power quality of the intermittent power is becoming an important research subject.Based on the analysis of Solar photovoltaic and wind power fluctuation characateristics and combined with the development status of energy storage technology currently, a Hybrid Photovoltaic/Wind Power Generation System with Storage Bank (HPWS) which composed of co-generation system and energy storage system is presented in this paper.An smoothing control strategy of intermittent power fluctuation is designed based on the principle of low-pass filter(LPF). And the energy storage system capacity algorithm for meeting energy requirement of smoothing control process is designed too. The validity of smoothing control strategy is verified and the relationship between control effect and storage capacity is briefly analysed, which can supply references for the energy storage system configuration through the simulation examples.Different energy storage device have different characteristics, such as response speed, sustained response time, power and capacity and so on.An extended smoothing control strategy of intermittent power fluctuation and energy storage system capacity algorithm is proposed.
