Because of the old technologies and complicated structures, the number of10kV main line power failure due to branch line accident increases continuously. The branch line accident has become principal element influencing distribution network security.To reduce the number of branch line accident and economic loss, to satisfy the need of power grid, especially smart grid, and the users’ request of quality and reliability, this paper presented a design scheme of the boundary circuit breaker which is a novel circuit breaker including control system and communication module. Moreover, a project of applying the boundary circuit breaker to the lOkV distributed lines in Meilan abode of Haikou Power Supply Bureau is proposed.The research shows that the boundary circuit breaker can not only reduce the number of branch line accident and economic loss, but also narrow the range of accident. Furthermore, it can improve reliability of power supply, which strongly guarantees society development and resident livelihood.
