As the important part of the structure of hydroelectric power station,surge tank is embedded in the rock mass,its body size and loading conditions are typically complex. In surge tank excavation and supporting construction process,always using the traditional underground surrounding rock classification theory and the empirical formula for calculating. The conclusions are often unable to reflect the true situation and the results aren’t accurate because more and more assumptions and simplifications bring into the calculation,let alone the complexity of natural rock and complex factors of the practical engineering.This paper originates from the Yunnan province Yiliang county MiaoLin hydropower station surge tank engineering.Engineering design company is Yunnan Survey and Design Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower,and the design method is traditional underground water conservancy facilities design theory.Since the project is located in complex geological condition and the traditional design theory has its limitations,construction company has an altercation over this design plan. Without the guarantee that the construction safety and construction quality of this case,the construction progress can not be carried out.In this case,to be badly in need of scientific and reliable simulation analysis as the third party certification for this design so that the construction project can be carried out successfully.Entrusted by Yunnan Survey and Design Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower,basing on the original design scheme,through the simulation analysis to the stress and deformation characteristics of surge tank in the case of the moutain original stress and the excavation process,these places where easily occurr damages in the processes of the constructions can be predicated,as to improve the original design by providing references and suggestions.At the same time,it also can guide the construction company to take measures to improve the security strength in the dangerous places.Water running is necessary after the completion of excavation construction.In the previous surge tank analysis,only doing the excavation process analysis without the water running back effects in case of emergency situations which is the key to the simulation of surge tank.As this paper’s brightline,take ANSYS Workbench’s DS modal as a data transmission interface, using the CFD and FSI technology to make the fluid-solid interaction analysis to the surge tank’s stress and deformation under the running state in three kinds of design waterlevel,in order to ensure the stability and reliability of operation and provide increased thickness and supporting intensity to the construction company for some protection measures to the engineering quality.
