Wind power grid to power bring many of influence, the most outstanding is regional network voltage quality of wind farms of the serious influence. Because the wind power grid can cause regional network of reactive power distribution changes affect regional network voltage, the situation may lead to serious regional network voltage collapse. Along with wind power capacity and scale continuous enlargement, wind farms internal reactive voltage imbalance is also more and more serious, even have affected the safe and stable operation of the wind farms. How to effectively solve the wind farm internal reactive voltage imbalance, provides the high quality for grid power resource has become one of the important research subject today. But because the wind farm itself is some characteristics, and there were no more mature and improve the wind farm reactive power optimization method to compensate. Therefore, this article summarized based on the former research according to the characteristics of the wind farms to thorough research, put forward based on the voltage stability modal analysis and the improved genetic algorithm with the combination of reactive power optimization wind farms compensation methods, and its application to the actual wind farms.This paper introduces the wind farm reactive power optimization compensation of research in the field of the present situation; Summarizes the main components of the wind farms and its mathematical model. The wind farms in order to realize the capacity of the reactive power compensation at least, the best quality and the voltage of wind turbine wind farms and points of the voltage minimum deviation for the main purpose and the establishment of the reactive power optimization model wind; Genetic algorithm is proposed to deal with wind farms reactive power optimization and the lack of genetic algorithm to the corresponding improvement, and will be based on voltage stability modal analysis and the improved genetic algorithm is used to solve the method of combining the wind farms reactive compensation point and compensation capacity; Finally this reactive power optimization method used by wind farms the practical application in the wind and the simulation calculation, the simulation calculation proves the effectiveness of the method in this paper and wind farms have very good reactive power optimization compensation effect.
