Moso bamboos are identified as natural composite materials consisting of vascular bundles and parenchymatous tissues. Vascular bundles are reinforcements and parenchymatous tissues are matrix. Macro mechanical properties of moso bamboos are decided by vascular bundles, matrix’s mechanical property and vascular bundles’ volume content. To decide and establish quantitative relationship between moso bamboo’s macro-mechanical properties, as well as vascular bundles’ matrix’s mechanical property and vascular bundles’ volume content, will make great theoretical sense to the aim-control on mechanics properties and performance of bamboo materials for engineering projects,In this paper, by means of microscopic imaging technology and macroscopic mechanical test, researches are conducted on subject of the relationship between moso bamboo fiber bundle’s space distribution, volume ratio, etc, and moso bamboo’s mechanical properties. Main contents and conclusions of this dissertation are as follows:1.By means of microscopical technique and image processing technology, we did research on fiber bundle’s space distribution and fiber bundle monomers’area in bamboo wood. The result indicates that fiber bundles’ volume percentage gets bigger along with the increase of bamboo’s height, and on different sections, the fiber bundle monomers’ area are basically similar; along the radial direction of bamboo, the fiber bundle’s volume percentage changes in way of logarithm, the closer to the bamboo green’s part, the greater the fiber bundle’s volume percentage is.2.Through a large number of experiments, bamboo test specimen’s maximum grain-direction tensile strength are measured, so do the compression strength, ensile elastic modulus and compressive elastic modulus. It is proved that, for bamboo wood with different height, bamboo fiber bundles’ mechanics properties are nearly the same.3.Both mechanics tests and microstructural researches are done to find the quantitative relationship between the specimen’s fiber bundles volume percentage and bamboo specimen’s mechanical properties. And it is concluded that for Moso bamboo materials, single fiber bundles’ areas are of the same in one cross section.
