With the rapid development of the LED lighting industry, LED lamps has been widelyused in the general illumination market for its distinct advantages such as high efficacy, longlifetime, and environmental friendliness, which have a tendency to replace the traditionalincandescent and fluorescent lamps. Now the development of LED lighting has encounteredthe technique bottleneck of optical loss, lifetime and heat elimination, and the traditional “onelamp with one driver” model makes the lagging development of the LED driver becoming themost important restrictive factor of the energy-saving benefit’s play of LED. Therefore, it’s ofgreat significance to find practical solutions to solve these technical problems to promote thedevelopment of LED lighting industry.This paper presents a new type of LED centralized DC power supply system, inaccordance with the functional requirements of the system, communication and dimmingtechnology for this LED street smart management system are designed. Finally according tothe design, an experimental platform has been built and the desired experimental results havebeen obtained. The main contents are as follows:1. Analyze and compare the driver, communications and dimming technologyconcerning with LED lighting, and then select the appropriate communication and dimmingtechnology for the system.2. The overall framework and management communication mode of centralized LEDDC power supply system are analyzed, meanwhile, functional requirements for each moduleis described.3. Design the way of communication and monitoring. Study on the software andhardware design of the communication, like GPRS, PLC and RF wireless communication.And complete hardware assembly and communication debugging of the concentrator.4. Design of LED lights control strategies and devices. Rational design of theconstant-current dimming circuits and experimentalize it to optimize the design parameters.Meanwhile the sampling circuit is designed, and the terminal control program of the LEDlighting is developed.5. The whole system experimental platform is built, debugged and tested. And theexperimental results show that the prototype can achieve the basic needed functions, whichverifies the feasibility of the design of the centralized LED DC power system.
