Electric vehicle performance concerning energy conservation and environmentalprotection has been immediate areas of new energy vehicles research focus for years.Considering the issue of the lack of theoretical basis of the scientific and technical evaluationindex on the design and acceptance of new energy electric vehicles, this paper research on thesystem configuration, parameters matching and energy management principles and designmethods of hybrid electric vehicle powertrain based on high energy usage ratio.Firstly, collecting the benchmarking data from testing two typical hybrid electric vehicles-Toyota Prius and Honda Insight, this paper builds their simulation models with Advisor, andperforms comparative analysis of their vehicle energy usage ratio, powertrain energyconversion efficiency, system configuration and energy management strategy in order toobtain the sensitive coefficients of hybrid electric vehicle technical parameters and energymanagement strategy control parameters, which quantify how much them affect theperformance of drivability, fuel economy and emission. Secondly, a hybrid electric vehicle ofhigh energy usage ratio (HEUR-HEV) with energy management strategy is designedaccording to the design principles and sensitive coefficients based on operational performance, whose simulation model is constructed with AVL Cruise and Matlab/Simuink. After that, theHEUR-HEV running on typical driving cycles is simulated for evaluation of its performance. Finally, in order to verify the design method of the HEUR-HEV, with test data from ToyotaPrius on-road driving as a reference, the paper conducted a simulation experiment for energymanagement strategy of HEUR-HEV.
