Research On The Creation Of The Features And Characteristics Of Urban Waterfront Of Xiangxi

With the acceleration of the city constructions and the reform and opening up of our country, the urban waterfront landscape which has the specific characteristics have become "scarcity" resource to improve the competitiveness of city, and also become strong demand urban residents to improve their living standards. In the light of that our construction and planning about the waterfront space were inexperienced and the current research and practice have concentrated in the cities, this article took the Xiangxi region which have deep historical and cultural heritage,, drainage patterns and significant space characteristics as an example to study and seek to build a waterfront landscape planning method tailored to local circumstances.First of all, this paper made a comprehensive analysis through the study of relevant literature and scholars at home and suggest my understanding for the connotation of urban features and characteristics and point out its elements; the author made in-depth analysis of the research body and establish appropriate system for urban feature evaluation, then adopt the questionnaire to conduct instance testing on this system, the result shows that urban waterfront space is an important element to develop the features and characteristics of city. Afterwards, we made a analysis on urban waterfront space and the general situation of Xiangxi to point out the influence of the construction of space on city. We did a full summary on the current situation of the urban waterfront space and its problems, then we started our research form five aspects of city planning:the planning layout, road traffic, building style, humanities elements and environment facilities. We created a principle of ecological priority and combined geographical culture to emphasis the construction of functional mix and low volume rates&high density on the perspective of planning layout, focus on the separated layout and hierarchy design on road traffic, stress the express of the horizon line and the continuous features of its external forms of on building style, designate historic feature districts and construction coordination area on humanistic elements, take the decentralized layout with centralized exceptions and localization of modeling as a method to construct the environment and suggest specific construction ideas. Finally, we used the instance of both sides of the Lishui River landscape in Xiangxi to validate our theory, we hope we can provide better contributions to the formation of urban waterfront landscape of the Hunan characteristics in Xiangxi.This paper analyzed a large number of documents and combined with specific projects in Western Hunan region to study on the construction of the characteristics of urban waterfront landscape in Xiangxi. We hope we can create and conclude out some construction methods for the building of urban waterfront space in other similar cities.
