Bulbous bow is a very special structure on ship. The smoothing line design ofthe bulbous bow can reduce the wave resistance, improve ship’s maneuverability. Atthe same time it is responsible for protecting sonar from waves attacked and far fieldexplosion load. Therefore, its importance is self-evident. However, the currentprovision of the literature and standard mainly force the security of bulbous bow instatic water pressure and limit sea waves attacked under normal circumstances, lessconsider the response of the structure on the load of shock and Bubble pulse spreadin underwater explosion. So it is very necessary to study the shock resistanceperformance of bulbous bow in underwater non-contact explosion. In this paper, theshock resistance performance of bulbous bow has been discussed, and the weak linkof the structure has also been pointed out. These works could provide the referenceto the structure design of bulbous bow.First of all, a coupling model of a titanium bulbous bow structure in the entireship and the flow field has been established. Through the calculation of manyexplosion working conditions in the middle ship and the front of ship, the impactenvironment of the sonar base in the bulbous bow bottom in underwater non-contactexplosion has been obtained, and the influence of attack angle in underwaternon-contact explosion has also been discussed.Second, cause of the requirements of sound transmission performance, the domeof bulbous bow does not use any brackets inside, only the ring ribs, which requiresbulbous bow have high anti-explosion shock resistance. According to thecharacteristics of bulbous bow, it is subdivided into the titanium dome, the steel base,the ribs and the connecting flange. The impact response of these sets in thenon-contact underwater explosion has been calculated. Then editor compares theplastic deformation of the structure, checks the safety of the structure, and points outits weaknesses.Further more, the author calculates the safety radius, critical radius and damageradius of titanium alloy bulbous bow in underwater non-contact explosion load, anddraws those curves with the interpolation method. Summary bulbous bow structure security with the change rule of Angle. Then the rule of the influence of angle factorhas been summarized.Finally, this paper expatiate the study of the bubble motion with the influence ofbulbous bow’s complex curved surface through the electric spark bubblesexperiments. Experimental results show that when the bubble pulse nearby thebulbous bow and the free surface, the bubble will be torn into two smaller bubbleand form two reverse respectively jets, which phenomenon may significantly weakenthe damage of bulbous bow from the bubble jets.
