Vibration Characteristics Analysis On Electric Power Steering System

Vehicles NVH characteristics are the main factors affect car comfort. With theElectric Power Steering System (EPS) widely used, its vibration characteristicshave also been widespread concern. In this paper, based on the school-enterprisecooperation project, the vibration characteristics of EPS are analyzed and someengineering applications. The result of the analysis is the significance ofengineering application.Fristly the mathematical model of the EPS is established, and then analyzes itsmodes and lists the factors that impact on EPS vibration and give their solutions.Based on the EPS and dashboard CATIA model of a company, use the finiteelement analysis software to establish the finite element model of the EPS anddashboard and perform modal analysis to obtain the natural frequencies and modeshapes. In order to avoid the electric power steering system and the source ofvibration resonance, optimize the EPS components’ structural parameters by thefinite element analysis software, and then verify its optimized structure to meet thepractical requirements through static strength analysis. By ADAMS/Car software,build the whole vehicle rigid-flexible coupling model including the flexibledashboard and EPS model to research the dynamic vibration characteristics of theEPS inspired by the engine idling condition incentive and road excitation.The above research analyzes the factors that impact on EPS vibration andgives their solutions. Optimize the EPS structure by the CAE technology to avoidthe resonance phenomenon occurs with the engine idling incentive, and this methodis helpful to carry out the analysis of the vibration characteristics of the EPS.
