Abstract/Summary:
The advantage of composite column with concrete filledthin-walled steel tube includes the excellent mechanicalbehavior of concrete filled steel tube and overcomes the rustingof the thin-walled steel tube. This kind of column shows goodeconomic value and widely prospect of engineering application. The analysis on thin-walled steel tube and steel reinforcedconcrete is sufficient comparing with composite column andcorresponding design or construction standard proceduresalready exist. But research on the composite column is rarely. In this paper the finite element software of ANSYS wasused to simulate the mechanical behavior of the compositecolumn and then programs were written using the software ofFORTRAN to verify the feasibility of the finite element method. The factors, including the thickness of the thin-walled steeltube, strength grade of the core concrete, eccentricity of pressure were used to simulate and analyze the bearing capacity of thecomposite column under pressure and bending and theload-deflection curves were drawn. The earthquake resistantbehavior under cyclic loading with different thickness of thethin-walled steel tube, strength grade of the core concrete, axialforce ratio was studied and the ductility coefficient of eachspecimen was discussed.
