Box column with concrete filled steel tube is a column includes the box column and concrete filled steel tube. The kind column makes capital of the excellent mechanical behavior of concrete filled steel tube and shows good economic value and widely prospect of engineering application. Nowadays there are many corresponding design or construction standard procedures. The box column with concrete filled steel tube discussed here is a new kind column. There are no analyses related in or out. The article is just talk about it.In this paper the finite element software of ANSYS was used to simulate the mechanical behavior of the column and then comparing the results of ANSYS with ones using norm to verify the feasibility of the finite element method.The factors, including eccentricity of pressure, pipe diameter, the thickness of the steel tube, strength grade of the core concrete and member slenderness ratio were used to simulate and analyze the bearing capacity of the column under pressure and bending and the load-deflection curves were drawn. The paper also talks about the influence of longitudinal stiffener and diaphragm plate to column under pressure and bending. The factors include the thickness of longitudinal stiffener,the numbers and thickness of diaphragm plate.At last, some conclusions may be available for reference in engineering design.
