The safety work of Heilongjiang boundary water reflects the efforts of our country’ssupervision and management of maritime safety. Moreover it directly reflects the foreignimage of China’s maritime department. Therefore in order to ensure that the navigation safetymanagement of the boundary water between China and Russia and to improve themaintenance and supervision ability of the channel and to improve the problem of maritimesafety supervision ability due to the lack of suitable buoy boats, the research of HeilongjiangTwin-skeg ship is imperative. Among those researches, Ship energy saving and new shiptypes developing have always been committed to the research in the shipbuilding industry.Because the researches directly related to the operation economy of ship transportation, theseresearches have always been very concerned by shipping department.Compared with traditional ship forms,the Twin-skeg ship has its advantages of lowerresistance,higher propulsive efficiency in application of the Chang jiang river basin after20years of development. However to the special conditions of the Heilongjiang river valley andchannel, the research and application about the Twin-skeg ship is few, so the applicability ofthe Twin-skeg ship still needs more further studies and proof. The research of a shallow draftTwin-skeg ship to Heilongjiang, Wusuli river and shallow water inland river navigationdomain has a great promotion value level application prospect, which can not only promotethe development of Heilongjiang river valley’s transportation and the exercise of statesovereignty, but also achieve good economic result and benefit the society, playing animportant role in the shipping system of Heilongjiang province.In this paper, based on the analysis of ship model test of the shallow draft Twin-skegship and computational fluid dynamics, the commercial software FLUENT is used tocalculate the viscous flow field around a shallow draft ship with Twin-skeg, without takinginto account the impact of wave—making resistance.The main research contents thedevelopment and main characteristics of the Twin-skeg ship, ship model test,the numericalsimulation theory of the viscous flow field, the flow characteristics and the numericalsimulation of the Twin-skeg ship viscous flow field, and the feasibility of calculating the shipresistance by FLUENT.It can be obtained by ship model test that the viscous resistance result of Heilongjiang shallow draft twin-skeg ship. In the same time, it can be obtained by FLUENT about thewater vapor distribution, pressure distribution, velocity vector and streamline distribution ofHeilongjiang twin-skeg ship. The two methods supply each other and describe the situation ofviscous flow field of Heilongjiang shallow draft twin-skeg ship. At last, the result suggeststhat the calculated values of FLUENT is consistent with the two-dimensional andthree-dimensional results, the error is in about10%, so using FLUENT is feasible.
