Today, China’s influence in shipping manufacture field is more powerful, manyindexes of which are ranked first in the world, for example. The order quantity andcompletion. China is the world’s shipbuilding power. However, China has not participatedin international ship STEP standards; domestic digital shipbuilding degree of China is low.The shipbuilding country to shipbuilding power transformation also needs the effort. At present, Tribon is the one of the mainstream of the design software in shipyard.Rhino as3d design software is the best of the new generation, which market share alsopromoted step by step. The application advantages of the two software each has his strongpoint, so many shipyard begins to introduce Tribon and Rhino. However, because of theTribon open is very poor, Tribon and Rhino of data exchange will become the shipyardproblems needed to resolve. This article selects the ship appearance as the research object, and reseaches ship linesby IGES files exported by Tribon_M3IGES data interface to STEP neutral files conversion, using AP216of the ship STEP standard. Finally, STEP neutral files can Achieve visual inRhino. This paper reseaches the product data exchange method, and analyzes the content andfiles standard structure of IGES standard and STEP standard. STEP standard defines modelby EXPRESS language, which can describe and restrict the complete production data, prevent ambiguity, and allow define model using data, constraint condition, relationships, the rules, and the function of resource cots. The paper uses IGES files which are exported by Tribon_M3IGES data interface asthe source of ship moulded forms data because the Tribon database is unopened. Aconversion mechanism was built up by analyzing how to represent the ship moulded formsdata in IGES fomat and STEP format. The AP216application tool is developed in Microsoft Visual C#2008by C#programming language. Traditional development methods is discarded and a new methodsis proposed that applicaton interpreted model is mapped to C#language instead of C++classes. In this way, STEP files are generated by windows application. The object is todevelop a STEP application plan which has independent intellectual proterty rights. As final result of the paper, step file of an example ship moulded forms is importedinto Rhino. The ship lines model is visual and the conversion of ship lines data betweenRhino and Tribon_M3is successful.
