With the development of social and economic and continued increase ofpopulation density of city, the height and scale of tall buildings are also increasing.It not only reflects the level of technology of a country, but also reflects the extentand level of spiritual and material civilization and economic development of acountry. As one of the main structure systems of tall buildings, Shear wallsstructure has widely applied in modern tall buildings. therefore,the research on themechanical performance of tall shear walls structure with a certain theoretical andpractical significance. In this thesis, based on the calculation and analysis on twoengineering examples by finite element structural software SATWE to studyreasonable arrangement and influencing factors of quantity of shear walls,simultaneously, based on displacement control and according to the story driftlimits of shear walls structure to derive a simplified method to determine areasonable quantity of shear walls. The main contents are as followings:1. According to the size of openings and the overall work coefficient, the shearwalls were classified. We analyze the characteristics of the corresponding force ofdifferent shear walls and according to this to conduct simplify calculation, themethods for calculating the internal force and displacement in the different types ofshear walls are presented, simultaneously, according to the structures which had thewall-frame or not, made the shear walls structure for calculating in two types.2. Based on the calculation and analysis on engineering examples by finiteelement structural software SATWE to study the structure’s dynamic characters anddeformation characters by adjusting the arrangement of shear walls. The resultsshow that: strengthen the shear walls around the structure can significantly increasethe torsion stiffness of the structure; simultaneously, under the conditions that meetthe structural rules, weaken the shear walls of the internal structure to make areasonable structure’s stiffness, and it can make the structure more secure,economic and reasonable.3. Based on the calculation and analysis on engineering examples by finiteelement structural software SATWE, considered three parameters such as openingsrate of shear walls, wall thickness and concrete strength grade to quantitative analyze the variations of the period of structure vibration, the max-story drift,seismic load, the ratio of stiffness with weight and the ratio of shear with weightand the effects on lateral rigidity of the shear walls structure; simultaneously, Byadjusting the wall thickness of Shear wall to ensure the max-story drift under thesame conditions when layers and floor height of structure are different to analyzethe effects on lateral rigidity of the shear walls structure and the variations of theperiod of structure vibration, seismic load, the ratio of stiffness with weight and theratio of shear with weight when the wall thickness of Shear-wall increased.4. Based on displacement control with the shear walls structure of the ratiobetween height and width isn’t more than4, according to the height of the building,the design earthquake grouping, the seismic intensity and site classification, then,according to the story drift limits of shear walls structure to derive a simplifiedmethod to determine a reasonable quantity of shear walls. Checking by an examplefrom the calculated results, the method for shear walls structure of the of the rulesfor plane, the ratio between height and width isn’t more than4and stiffness alongthe building height uniformly distributed can provide a reference for structure ofPreliminary design. Finally, the thesis summarized the problems of arrangementand quantity of shear walls in the design of tall shear walls structure and putforward to the problems for the further study.
